I am a final year student studying Fashion and Textile Retailing at The University of Manchester. University has
fuelled my passion to work in the fashion industry and pursue a career in fashion buying. The Fashion and Textile
Retailing course has allowed me gain to a detailed knowledge and understanding of different areas of the fashion industry
and related areas. The modules during my first and second year have provided an introduction into the mechanics of fashion,
consumer behaviour, fashion communication, fashion marketing and fashion merchandising. Through studying the clothing module of the course
I have gained technical knowledge in understanding the process of making garments.
I have developed my organisational and planning skills at University by organising a charity fashion show for Chrisities in 2006.
I have also participated in planning a fashion show for a small school based in Manchester during my third year at University.
This has allowed me to meet and work with new people and further enhanced my desire to work in the fashion industry.
My retail experience at Dorothy Perkins, Next, Fat Face and The White Company has allowed me to acquire good communication skills
and gain a greater understanding of the retail industry. I have gained experience working in large and small teams, as well as
working independantly.
After graduating from University in 2009 my main intention is to travel; I would particularly like to visit Austrailia, New
Zealand and South America.
